Shoe of the Week - Issue #15

These are my Franco Sarto "Fushia" pumps. I love the round toe and the flower accent. Sarto's tend to be a bit narrow for my foot, and this pair isn't my all-time favorite, so I give them 3 & 1/2 stars. Perhaps you've noticed I have alot of pink in my shoe collection. I *am* a girl, you know. Happy shoe-hunting!

Occupational Therapy

I started my new job today. Actually, it's the same place I worked at 4 years ago when I first moved to California. I was at a rehab hospital, and now I'm in a Skilled Nursing Facility - fancy name for a nursing home. All in all, things went well. Unfortunately, I now have to get on the highway to get to and fro - people out here drive crazy! I won't go into further detail for fear of giving mummy a heart attack. Anyway, I have to study my Italian now, so I'll just say: drive safe, get good health insurance, and the new Olympic ice-skating point system stinks!

E' tutto mio!

What a great weekend I had. It was so nice I didn't have a chance to blog but here goes. First of all, I tried to drop my Italian class (b/c I had missed one), but Maestro wouldn't hear of it - he called me at work and insisted I meet him Saturday morning at the local French bakery to make up the lesson. I went there nervous (b/c I hate meeting strangers and I hate crowds) but I had the best time ever. It was 3 & 1/2 hours of eating, studying, and meeting Maestro's friends. It was all very European. So, he said my pronunciation is really excellent and invited me to join the local Italian club. Yeah! Then, later that weekend I got to go shoe shopping. Double yeah! You see, co-workers got me a gift certificate for my going away party. I got some lovely green and tan suede loafers (keep an eye for them in Shoe of the Week). My girlfriend, R, also took me to lunch for my favorite soup in the world: PF Chang's Won-ton! yummy. And then, to top it all off...the "history of shoes" book that I order from Barnes and Nobel finally arrived! I have tomorrow off before I begin my new job on Wednesday. I should use it to work out, but I think I'll be a lazy slob, study some Italian, and take pictures of shoes. Life is sweet sometimes, no?

Shoe of the Week - Issue #14

Here's the shoe that started it all. For me, anyway. These Christian LaCroix kitten-heel strappy sandals were purchased by yours truly on August 21st, 2004 in San Francisco at DSW at 3:13 pm. Yes, I do keep up with these important details. I refuse to say how much I paid - it was alot, but I got a great deal. So how do they rate? 4 out of 5 stars: they just aren't as comfortable as they are cute. I wish the picture did them justice. I try! Maybe when I master Italian, I'll start up on classes for better shoe photography.

Happy shoe-hunting!

"Take a deep breath and count to 10"

I'm having a panic attack. Why? I'm switching jobs and today is the day I decided to deal with the awful business of the "401K rollover" or as I call it: "Perhaps I can retire to a lovely fridge box in the Hamptons when I'm 109" - it's a gentle reminder of what little I have to show for my 31 years here on earth. Also gotta do something about health insurance - lot's o forms to fill out there...Also, I'm sore from working out yesterday (upper body). Also, I haven't been studying my Italian much and I fear I will let il Maestro down! Also, Michelle Kwan! Also, tomorrow is Valentine's Day which means I get to watch all the women I work with get flowers and candy and balloons and various crap delivered by singing men in diapers. Maybe this year I'll get to see the guy that came in the alligator costume. Perhaps that would lighten the anxious twisting in my chest.
Happy Holidays, lovahs!

What in the world...

have I been doing? Well, between planning to change jobs, playing Final Fantasy (thanks, D), studying Italian and now, watching the Olympics (they're in Italy, in case ya didn't know), I've been very busy NOT working out or buying shoes. I must apologize for lagging on the blog, e mails, and phone calls. A girl can only do so much! And now it seems that some time must be paid to praying for that rascal P. McCready. For anyone who has been reading my blog comments from Day 1, you know who I am talking about. I know a few things about P, and I even know someone who knows his true identity. But I haven't pressed the matter, as I am determined to figure out who the bandit is on my own. For now, however, it seems that P has gotten himself into a nasty jam and needs our good thoughts (or at least our literary praise). All I can say, is thank goodness for Mrs. Lumpshire!
